When Benedict XVI Promoted Latin
Cited in the collection « My Council », gathering the writings of young Abbé Ratzinger, then peritus at Vatican II, the future pope wrote
« All the reasons one produces in favor of an immutable Latin – liturgical language, certainly, but also a dead language – must yield before the clear, unequivocal and precise argumentation of the Apostle… The Latin language is dead, but the Church, she is alive.
