Manson was tried, initially sentenced to death, a sentence later commuted to life imprisonment where he had a swastika tattooed on his forehead and, having become a celebrity, received numerous visits. He died in 2017, having meanwhile become a popular icon found in films, songs and books. As for Susan Atkins, she died in prison of cancer, having converted to born-again Christianity, she who believed Manson was… Christ himself!

Thus, we would have the Virgin Mary represented in the features of Susan Atkins, that is to say the absolute antithesis of the Virgin, who did not hesitate to murder a pregnant woman begging her to spare her baby's life. Atkins moreover called herself "daughter of Satan" and had a pronounced taste for spilled blood. Blood, we find it in certain portraits, the mouth stained, by Claire Tabouret. Fascination with serial killers is deeply rooted in popular culture. One need only see the enticing programs offered by online video platforms devoted to serial killers to understand how much they exercise an unhealthy attraction. And the character of Hannibal Lecter – invented by American writer Thomas Harris – is proof of this, even though he is harmless as pure fiction.
It would therefore not be surprising if Claire Tabouret had succumbed to this morbid attraction. Except that we are speaking of Notre-Dame de Paris and that this would represent an outrageous insult hurled in the face of Catholics in France and throughout the world. And to those who would argue that hell is often represented in churches, that is true, but it is not to promote it! With Claire Tabouret, it seems the model is exalted for itself, in an association more than dubious between a bloodthirsty murderer and the Virgin.
It remains to be hoped that all this will be clarified as quickly as possible and that doubts will be definitively dispelled by not replacing the pre-existing stained glass windows of Notre-Dame, this temple of faith and of our History…
