I felt like that many years ago when Argentina fell off the deep end. That was around the first half of 1973 when the country, being moderately prosperous and in peace, took a turn for the worse. Things changed and a dark cloud covered what once was one of the freest realms in the world. I did not have the comforts of the faith back then. I did not understand that sometimes one has to live through certain unpleasant things. As yesterday’s elections took place I saw how the American people in some mysterious way have allowed the dissolution of their own country.

I can see what is coming. I believe we are seeing the emergence in the world of the “man of lawlessness” predicted in St Paul’s letters. I sense this is going to affect us all, even those of us who are far from the center of the action. For some reason that I cannot understand I was given some insights. I knew this was coming and I believe I know what is coming after this. The US is going to live something similar to what Russians experienced between 1917 and 1924. Here in Buenos Aires it is not polite to talk critically of events that occurred between 1946 and 1955. It was mild suffering for most Argentines but many had to experience the same fear.

I hope I am exaggerating but Brazil’s elections were a prelude. Now the malady has apparently spread to the US. I pray for Mr Trump and his family because I can see they are going to suffer cruel persecutions. All decent people are going to be exposed to evils comparable to those endured once by the USSR, Cuba, and others that fell under dictatorships of various signs. The body of the Republic will resist —one can only hope— and eventually triumph but there is no way to skip this battle, there is no safe place on God’s earth to go and wait.

My prayers are with you all and with the country. Please pray for me, for my protection and for my health. I have asked God to see the “other side” of this but that may not be His will. Pray also for those who depend on me. I should not worry but I do. I am human after all.

A friend sent me these words earlier today:

“America must undergo judgement and chastisement, just like Israel of old, for its egregious violation of the covenant. He also has a timeline tied to Revelation and other factors that I think are not contradictory of your predictions, but maybe you can see what you think of his ideas and let me know. He just came to my inbox recently, but what he says today seems right. Turns out we ought not put our faith in princes.”

He is right. Too many in this world wait for that human actor that will turn things around, fight for justice, fix the economy, end social decay, etc. etc. There is no such thing. If such a man appears to rise one can be sure it is a mirage even with the best intentions.

Someone said there is a hole in every human soul carved specifically for Christ to fit in. Only He can fill that empty space but our cravings and hopes make up all kinds of devices to replace Him. Looking at history we see the results of that form of idolatry (for that is what any replacement of Christ is) from Alexander to Caesar, from Napoleon to Hitler just to name a few, mankind has misplaced hope in many men —some good, some bad— but all of them have something in common: they are humans bearing the heavy load of original sin. God has subject the whole cosmos to futility. There is no escaping that. All things must pass, even the Golden Calf.

In John 15:5 Our Lord speaks clearly:

“I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in Me, and I in him, will bear much fruit. For apart from Me you can do nothing.”

So, the matter at hand for every country in the world is to build on Christ the Rock and nothing else.

‘Everyone then who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not act on them will be like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell—and great was its ruin!’ (Matthew 7: 24-27)

Those who know how to build always secure a good foundation.

In our days the entire world is engaged in a vain attempt to build a world without Christ. It is a fool’s errand, a fruitless task that will end the same way as the Tower of Babel. Think about it, side with Christ and have no fear because Christ will lead you to the greatest success unfailingly. He once gave an emperor the secret in a few words: “In hoc signo vinces” meaning “under this sign you shall win” and that sign was essentially His Cross.

Keep on winning with Him.
