Bishop Rob Mutsaerts asks Pope Leo to consider fruits of Synod on Synodality

Bishop Robert Mutsaerts, a Dutch auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of 's-Hertogenbosch, has made a name for himself through pointed interventions that are hardly favorable to the "synodalist" direction taken by "Francis" and subsequently "Leo." In 2012, he walked out of the synodal assembly, declaring: "God is outside this vile synodal process." In 2026, he stood his ground with a dense, deeply considered text addressed directly to "Pope" Leo. And therein lies the rub: by persisting in recognizing the antipope Leo as the true pope while simultaneously criticizing him, one ultimately strengthens him. Bishop Mutsaerts—just a little more effort, please!

Dear friends and foes of Stilum Curiae, Benedetta De Vito, whom we heartily thank, offers you this outpouring; not one of despair—never that—but of dismay and sorrow, yes, the bitter daily bread of those who keep their eyes open to the world, and to what lies behind it. Courage, dear Benedetta, you know you are not alone. It is not our battle, but His. Good reading and meditation. Marco Tosatti

The Decline of the Petrine Ministry?

Bishop Marian Eleganti : "I believe that recent popes have lost authority and spiritual capital. Their personalities take center stage."

Editor’s note: The following is a guest commentary from Bishop Marian Eleganti, the former auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of Chur and former Abbot of St. Otmarsberg Abbey. It has been published on 'Per Mariam' at the direct request of Bp. Eleganti.
